November 11: Saint Martin’s Summer in Chianti, from Panzano to Greve


November usually is a pretty rainy month, but, the legend says that on the day 11, there is always a sunny day called “estate di San Martino” (Saint Martin’s Summer).

This year respected the tradition, and on the 11 we had a marvellous sunny day with no clouds in the blu sky.

With a group of 20 students and their teachers coming from Hong Kong I hiked in the Chiantishire from Panzano to Greve.

In this season the colors are spectacular the range of the tones is the larger than in any other part of the year and the parfums of the wood are so intense….

We stop for lunch at Vignamaggio where we can rest and have a look at the villa, at the cellar and at the perfect italian garden… quite the same as in 1500 infact in 1993 it was the set for an intense movie directed by Kenneth Branagh. Did someone of you recognize it? Read the rest of this entry »
